"I
struggled for a time regarding if I was going to
share my experience with CAD and how it has affected
my life. Not because I am ashamed or
embarrassed by what I've been through; but because
I've never wanted to draw attention to myself in any
self-serving manner. I chose to be a
cinematographer and a photographer because I like
being behind the camera and not in front of it.
I finally decided that if I didn't try and help
others by sharing what I have learned I wouldn't be
able to look myself in the mirror and like what I
saw. I believe that the way we make this world
a better place is by deliberately engaging in acts
of kindness that help others improve their quality
of life. I decided that if I could help one
person make better life choices that helped them
avoid what I've been through, then everything I've
been through has been worth it." |

JON'S
STORY : THE STORY OF SUMMIT4CAD |
|
Jon Patrick Hyde's story
is unfortunately a story that is too often told; a
healthy adult in their 40's with undiagnosed
coronary artery disease suddenly experiences a life-threatening
heart attack. "Out of the blue" is an
understatement. Jon's fitness level and
general health was better than most adults 20 years
younger than he was at the time of his heart attack.
A life-long cyclist, Jon was not overweight,
he had never smoked, never drank alcohol, didn't eat
fried foods or junk food, and he exercised daily.
He was for all extents and purposes in ideal health
and physical condition for his age. Yet
genetic factors beyond his control and the inability
to see the health of a person's cardiovascular
system from their exterior appearance and lifestyle
choices, almost cost Jon his life.
During
his recovery from emergency heart surgery Jon
started researching heart disease and specifically
CAD (Coronary Artery Disease) to better understand
how he could have so easily slipped through the
cracks and remained undiagnosed for so long.
